For Louise! Please read.

For Louise! Please read.

Emerson misses your food already! (Emerson probably ate at the Itzcovitch’s house for dinner more than she ate at ours. She said Louise’s food was SO yummy. Louise is Britt’s mom and Erin and Brandon, too. Emerson’s best buddies in Montreal are Brit and Erin. Maddux’s good friend is their brother, Brandon. Louise is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. If I was to ever get in a fist fight with anyone, I would want her to have my back. That woman can kick some major butt!!!!) When we return, we’ll have to get together to do some more puzzles together while Jesse and Mitch drink beer. Good times!

Added info on the food: there are tanks and tanks of fish and other seafood. There are people standing behind the tanks in huge plastic/rubber aprons. They grab a fish and start cutting it apart so quickly. It’s pretty crazy to watch. They sell all parts of the fish. They also sell birds cooked right with their heads on and you can buy bags of chicken feet if that tickles your fancy. Hmmmm… haven’t tried those yet and don’t think I will.

A Double-Decker Tram Ride with Clinton!

A Double-Decker Tram Ride with Clinton!

As soon as Maddux and Lennon saw the double-decker buses and trams, they were hooked. I would say Maddux asked when we could ride on one every other minute. Look how happy he is here. This is our buddy, Clinton. He is such a good friend. We would always have a blast when he’d visit us in California. He has graciously given us his apartment for our stay in HK. We get to spend time with his dogs Augustus and Ripley, too. They love to snuggle and snore.

The guy on the far right was 'becoming one' with a tree for about an hour. It was really fun to watch.

While we were playing at the park, we saw young and old people stretching, doing tai chi and yoga. One woman who was maybe in her 70’s walked up the the jungle gym and effortlessly put her leg up on the highest bar so she was doing a vertical split. Jesse couldn’t get the camera out in time. Bummer. She was wearing bright red pants and had on a pink shirt. She reminded me of my Gramma Ramona. She was awesome!

Long flight!

Long flight!

The flight was about 14 hours. I slept a lot (anyone who knows me, knows I can sleep anywhere! It is a gift!) Jesse and Lennon played Uno non-stop. Lennon is addicted to playing games. Em and Maddux watched movies, did some school work (weird) and annoyed each other. I think I only made about 5 empty threats and when the kids wouldn’t eat any of their airplane food- both Jesse and I talked endlessly about kids that go to bed hungry every night. In their defense, the chicken did look like it once may have been a kitten. yikes!

Maddux took this picture.

I think this was taken while we were flying over Alaska. So pretty.

“Friends…they cherish one another’s hopes. They are kind to one another’s dreams.” -Thoreau

When we started planning our trip, we asked the kids where they would want to go if they could go any place in the whole world. The answer was Manhattan Beach. 🙂 So, we cashed in some miles and made sure we got a layover there. We could only get 23 hours, but we took it. It was incredibly short, but we got to see many people when we went to the kids’ old school. Some people also played with us at the beach (even though for the locals- it was “cold.”) Kiki, Kelley, Francesca, Georgia, Robby, Declan, Duncan, Nick, Rachel, Gracie, Ambria, Bennett and Chloe were all troopers (and their moms, too!) To all of our friends in MB- whenever we stroll into town, we can feel how much we are loved. What a happy place. What incredible people!

Our Montreal Family!

These are our amazing neighbors who became our wonderful friends in Montreal. The Fixman’s (Jeff, Randy, Matty, JJ and Sean) welcomed us when we moved into their neighborhood and treated us like family. We got to swim in their pool all summer, eat many dinners, talk about life, play, play, play! We will miss you so very much! We love you guys and will see you soon.
