This was our first overnight train experience and we really liked it. The only drawbacks were our close proximity to the bathrooms and the fact that the latch was broken on the train car door so it would open and slam shut at regular intervals. We were so tired that we all slept through most of the night.
When you enter Laos, you notice an energy shift. I can’t explain it but everything slows down considerably.
Hey Jesse, Kim. What amazing adventures you are having! I’ve loved reading about your experiences. Jesse — Joe clued me in to your travels/blog as my husband Andy and I are on our own odyssey of sorts with our two girls Keira (6) and Aili (4) (took the overnight train from Bangkok to Laos last nit as a matter of fact!). We are posting at http://www.scottfamilyodyssey.wordpress.com. I cracked up at your Hanoi scam post. It’s non-stop at times, eh? Thx for sharing your experiences. They are both inspiring and comforting. Wishing you and your family well! Best, Meg Owen Scott (P’95)
