La Sagrada Família is indescribable. When you stand beneath it and look up- it towers over you and makes you a bit dizzy. After more than 100 years, it’s still under construction. It is estimated that it will be completed sometime between 2020 and 2040.
The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family) was an obsession for the architect Antoni Gaudí. Gaudi’s passions were architecture, nature and religion so this cathedral would be his masterpiece! A conservative society commissioned the work in the hopes that this temple would serve as atonement for the city’s sins of modernization including wealth and greed. To Gaudí, it was a holy mission.
The photos were taken while waiting in line for a bit over an hour. The other photo was taken right at the entrance.

Hi Kim, Jesse and Adventurers Extraordinaire!
You are so close to Tom and Laura if you are at La Sagrada Familia. Isn’t it amazing? You have probably moved on by now, but, in case you haven’t –you could e-mail my daughter in law at: laurafont@hotmail.com She checks more often than Tom.

Renee! Oh man! We are now in the south of France. I would have loved to see them. We only had one day there, though. I loved the art in that city. They are funky!!! Looking forward to seeing you this summer. Love!

Probably a good thing, as I made a mistake on the e-mail address! Yes, Gaudi’s artworks are fantastic. We hope to see you this summer. I know that grandma and Kiko are ready to see you for sure! Love, The B’s.
Thanks Renee! My mom says kiko is very needy- so I think it will be bittersweet for her to see her go! We will be in the Midwest in July. I will look for you outside! Love!
