The church dates mainly from the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. It is the tallest structure in the city and the second tallest brickwork tower in the world.
There are also the tombs of Charles the Bold, last Valois Duke of Burgundy, and his daughter, the duchess Mary.
A beautiful sculpture by Michelangelo of “Madonna and Child” is close to the entrance.

The Church of Our Lady in Bruges
Kiss the frog and wait and see if a prince or princess appears!
We all gave it a go except for Lennon who had no interest in kissing the frog or in meeting a princess or a prince!
For some reason- Jesse really got into it and seemed really hopeful. Hmm…..?!?!
The Belfry of Bruges
The belfry of Bruges, or Belfort, is a medieval bell in Brugge Belgium. The belfry formerly served as an observation post for spotting fires and other danger. 366 steps up a narrow, steep staircase leads to the top of the 83-metre-high building, which leans a little to the east. The boys went up the tower while I meandered around the town square. Good lord! When will the rain stop?!
Beyonce!!!!!
My dear, wonderful friend’s husband couldn’t make it to the Beyonce concert so I scored BIG! I was over the moon when Jamie offered me the ticket. We had an absolute blast!
Beyonce brought the house down!
Jamie and I couldn’t stop singing and dancing to “All the Single Ladies” and we have been ever since. One of my favorite songs of hers is “I Was Here.” Some lyrics are below:
“I was here
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I’ve done, everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know
I was here!” Good stuff- her concert made my eyes water at times it was so beautiful. I couldn’t stop dancing and jumping around!
Man! We had fun. I wish I could sing and dance like Beyonce- I’d love to be on stage like that with fancy outfits on and a big old fan blowing on me all night so I’d never have a bad hair day! Ha
Thank you again Jamie and Sacha! It was fabulous!!! You’re the best!
The best hot chocolate in the world!!!
Jesse, me and the boys took a little day trip to Brugge. We found the best hot chocolate ever! They brought out hot milk with a chocolate cup of chocolate. You could put in as much or as little as you wanted (who wouldn’t put all the chocolate in?!?!?) The chocolates melt, you stir it with a little whisk and viola! Everyone was very happy.
Anderlecht Wins!!!! Sacha scores exciting goal!!!
Photo above: Jesse and Sacha’s wife, Jamie, at game to cheer on Anderlecht. We will all be at the championship game on Sunday to help celebrate WHEN they win it all!!!!
Brussels is beautiful!
Manneken Pis (yes, that is the actual name)
Manneken Pis is a famous Brussels landmark. It is a small bronze fountain sculpture of a naked little boy peeing. It dates back to 1618/19. He is pretty resilient and/or lucky, as well, having survived the bombardment of Brussels in 1695.
The famous statue is an emblem of the rebellious spirit of the City of Brussels- sometimes they even put clothes on him. The little fella’s wardrobe consists of about 800 outfits!
Belgian Waffles, gelato, chocolate fountains… Yummalicious!
Sacha and Jamie told us we had to have fries (frites), waffles, chocolates and beers while in Belgium. We have tried all of them and were not the least bit disappointed!
