A tuk tuk is like a motorcycle or three wheeler rickshaw type taxi thing. The back or side can be small or almost as big as a pickup truck to hold people. We just saw one today that was packed with so many people that all you could see were some arms, legs and backpacks smushed up. We rode on one in Koh Lanta that was built on the side of a motorcycle. I was in the very front. Usually, I love this stuff because it goes so fast and it’s loud and windy. On this one, however, the little rickety thing was weighed down heavy with our bags and I kept thinking that if a tire pops, I’m going to be the first one flung into a tree! Some of the drivers bedazzle the heck out of these things- from killer sound systems, to flashing lights and disco balls. (Trang, Thailand)

Tuk Tuks
We are killin’ fruit shakes all over Southeast Asia!

The fruitshakes here are insanely good and inexpensive. We have them every day, but sometimes you just can’t beat an ice cold bottle of soda! Cheers! (Trang, Thailand)
I know this is weird, but…

I have always wanted a little dog who’s tongue hangs out all the time. I don’t know what it is, but I think it’s the cutest thing. I saw this dog at a market and got a little crazy trying to get the camera out to take a picture. Someday…. 🙂
Anyone hungry for some fried insects?

There was a teenage girl selling these and she was going to town munching away! Jesse is always telling the kids to try new things. Emerson saw these, looked at Jesse and said “hey! you should try new things, dad!” No Marsch’s tried them, but someone told us they taste like chicken! hee
Turtles for Kiki!

Hey Kiki! We took this picture for you because we know how much you love turtles. These turtles were selling for 20 baht- which is less than a dollar! They were so cute.
Em also saw baby four toes’ at a street market. So tiny! To be honest, we’re not sure if they were selling them to be pets or to be food!
More of Koh Lanta

I didn’t realize we took so many pictures here. One of the pictures is of the water coming in really close to the street level. Many buildings are on stilts and some restaurants have eating areas on pier-like platforms.
You can find a hammock almost anywhere. The kids were swinging in these for awhile until someone gave us a dirty look because they were trying to relax nearby and the kids’ buffoonery was getting out of control.
The little Thai girl in the picture came up to me while I was sitting with the kids on the floor. She started slapping and tickling me on the back. I turned around and took a picture and she was so excited to see it right away. My brother and I have talked a few times about how lots of kids today have immediate gratification for almost anything they want because of technology. Remember taking your film in to get developed and after waiting so long to fill up the roll, take it in, get it processed – only two or three photos were actually decent? Funny.
Lennon was loving roaming the beach and watching the sunset. He seems to have gotten bigger in the almost month we’ve been traveling!
Koh Lanta.

We didn’t stay at the hotel with the stone elephant or lilypads outside of the rooms (they had a ‘no guest under 12 years old ‘ policy. Well lah-dee-da!) There are some really beautiful hotels on these islands that incorporate nature as much as possible- some restaurants, too. Just the other day while walking past a cute little sidewalk bistro type place- we saw a rat the size of a chihuahua run across the steps. Aye-yi-yi!
“It’s like playing I Spy with the crab all the time.” – maddux

Maddux and I followed around two little crabs for awhile in koh lanta. Sometimes we’d lose them (they looked like little tumble weeds moving so fast sideways.) Maddux said it was like I Spy trying to find them. The sunset was stellar!

This little cabana thing in koh lanta was brilliant. It was our little home base between a beach and a pool. It was a great place to take a break from the sun, and the breeze was fantastic!
