I wish I could have met her…

I took a picture of a picture. I love the way this woman looks. She looks like she’s a no-nonsense lady with a funky fashion sense. Her corn cob pipe completes the look. Love it!

Fish Feet

We got a pedicure from fish at this fish spa in koh lipe. It is a weird feeling. Em and Maddux said it felt like little spiders crawling all over your feet. I felt it was like little tiny suction cups all over. Lennon was a bit creeped out by it and didn’t want to fully immerse his feet. Definitely took a little getting used to, but we can say we did it!

New Fashion Craze & Guy from Myanmar (Burma)

These colorful lanterns are everywhere and they are lit up at night. The guy holding up Lennon is Eu (pronounced like ‘you’ without using the y sound.) Nice guy. Just kind of hangs on his hammock during the day, then sets up the bar area at night. He is from Myanmar (Burma) – we are headed there soon. He said all parts of the country are beautiful and if the people are as nice as him, we will be welcomed. Myanmar recently opened their borders to foreigners. We are looking forward to seeing people who live very simple lives. It was no small feat for Jesse to obtain visas for all of us, but we all got ’em! He had to go to their embassy in Singapore and speak to the ambassador who had the power to say ‘yay’ or ‘nay.’ Then he had to fill out a whole lot of paperwork, leave some photos and our passports, then travel back the next day to pick them up. Whew!

Great Bungalow in Koh Lipe

20130213-134920.jpg
This was pretty big for what we’ve been staying in. The bottom and top weren’t connected- you had to get out and walk up the steps. Any time Maddux and I did that- the mosquitoes had a feeding frenzy. Check out one of Maddux’s bites on his eye. Good thing we’re taking anti-malarial pills daily! Whoops. I don’t have Maddux’s mosquito bite photo uploaded yet. Stay tuned… It’s a doozy! He had an elephant ankle one day, too. Some bites just make him swell up like crazy!

The other side of Koh Lipe

Koh Lipe is a small island in the southern part of the Andaman Sea. There are three main beaches. We went over to Sunrise Beach and it was just as beautiful as the other beaches. Lots of boats, good snorkeling and perfect water temperature. When you walk through the village to get to the other beach, you see how some of the Thai people live. They seem to make the best of what they have. I like how when you go into a hotel or hut, you can only access electricity by putting your key in a special slot. That way, when you leave your room, there is no electricity being wasted (lights, air conditioning, etc.) Yes, sometimes it is extremely hot and sweaty but you get some toxins out of your system. Positive thinking helps fight discomfort sometimes!
